Search Engine News

Believe it or not there are other search engines out there that have been very helpful to me and my clients.  I still optimize for Google's sake first, but these other search engines really add value despite that we all rely heavily on Google SERPs.  First, Bing's search results come up so fast, it's awesome.  I love SearchMe as a way to click through to a website that is visually appealing, rather than content driven.  The results after the first 10 vary greatly from Google's, but I really like being able to see the pages.  And then there's Twitter.  It could be great, but I really see it as a place where employees waste a lot of time.  I don't have time to come up with something interesting, relevant and promotable let alone be interested in everyone else's thoughts.  However, the search on Twitter is a great way for people to track down interesting gossip, news, reviews or critiques about products, services, people and places.

What is "SEO"? and why do I need it?

Search Engine Optimization.  More specifically the fine-tuning of a website's content and meta-tags. Coordinating together with succinct keyword-rich content that speaks not only to potential clients/customers but also to the search engines' robots, crawlers or spiders. That coupled with a strategic linking policy with business partners relevant to your industry. Organic results are much more cost-effective than any online advertising, including Adwords campaigns, in the long haul.
